Thomas Olde Heuvelt

Thomas Baudelet Olde Heuvelt (April 16th 1983) is a Dutch writer of novels and short fiction in Fantastic Literature. His work is mostly magical realism, fantasy, modern horror and thriller with often an humorous and emotional impact. His work has been translated to English, Polish and Chinese. BBC Radio called Thomas ‘One of Europe’s foremost talents in Fantastic Literature’.

In 2013 he was the first Dutch writer nominated the prestige American Hugo Awards, the yearly public prize for Fantasy and Science Fiction, with his story The Boy Who Cast No Shadow. That story (together with Carlos Ruiz Zafón) also got the Honorable Mention in the Science Fiction & Fantasy Translation Awards. In 2015 he was the first Dutch winner of the Hugo Award for best novelette with his story The Day The World Turned Upside Down. Olde Heuvelt is also a twofold winner of the Paul Harland Prijs for best Dutch Fantastic Story (2009 and 2012).
